More scholarships than you can poke a stick at !!

Would you like to accelerate your career and jump ahead of the other candidates when you go for your first job? Would you like to get paid while doing it? Well, if you answered yes to both of those questions then an ACS Foundation Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Scholarship is for you. When you accept a WIL scholarship with the ACS Foundation you are given real world, relevant work experience in the ICT industry, which will make you highly sought after by employers as there is demand for graduates with relevant experience under their belt, as well as their qualifications. I would implore you to even apply for scholarships as the experience gained from undergoing the process can help you improve you interviewing techniques when applying for a job, and give you more confidence.
Often I hear stories of students that have graduated recently with their degree in hand trying to find a job, and can’t seem to get one because employers require that they have some work experience related to their job. We have found that applicants that have done a WIL scholarship are on average to spend 7 years at their first job as they are in a better position to find a job that suits their interests. Most new graduates (47% in Sydney and Melbourne) only stay 1 year at their first job before moving on to find another.
At the moment we have dozens of scholarships available just waiting for students to apply. We’re currently experiencing difficulties in just getting you, the student to apply, as most students think they won’t get it, to which I say ‘you will never know until you try’. If you do not apply there is one thing that can be guaranteed – you certainly will not get a scholarship !! If you apply and don’t get a particular scholarship, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t another scholarship that you can’t apply for (and get). We have many scholarships for multiple disciplines that might be better suited for you. If you can’t find a scholarship that suits you then submit a general application with the required documents as per the check list, so that if we find a scholarship that suits your skill set - we will contact you about it.
Lastly, I would like to inform you about our Facebook page. We often update our Facebook page regularly about featured scholarships and information that may help you find your scholarship. So check us out on Facebook.

Testimonials

“Today’s debate is the start of a series of important conversations to raise the awareness of this opportunity. We need this message to reach graduates, high school student, parents, careers advisors and mature aged workers in other fields and disciplines, who may be considering a career change, on the career opportunities and skills that are in demand not only within the ICT industry, but other industries such as advertising, film, finance and architecture – as ICT underpins every sector of the economy.”
John Ridge

“The ubiquity and persuasiveness of ICT is now embedded everywhere. With every second person using technology to improve their lives and lifestyle in some way, the spectrum of opportunity for those with ICT skills is now incredibly broad.”
Philip Argy, ACS President

“All the boundaries are blurring. We have people join IBM intending to pursue a particular technology strain, that move across to something completely different within six months. We need to break away from the mindset that suggests that IT is about writing code.”
Charles Noble, ITDelivery

“The backroom image is destructive to the industry ... ICT is an enabler to what you want to do.”
Xavier Desdoigts, Animal Logic at Fox Studios
