We currently partner with over 50 agencies to offer over 1,000 NSW Government transactions including drivers" licences, vehicle registration renewals, applications for birth certificates, Seniors Cards, Housing NSW payments, fines, contractor licences and many more.

Primary purpose of the role

The Product Engineer leads building and deploying software, web, and multimedia applications to support delivery of innovative and user-centred products. Working in a lean, agile, and test driven development environment, the Product Engineer will lead and support across the development process to build Service NSW products which deliver customer value.

Key accountabilities

• Support end to end product development through build, release, maintenance and enhancement of product features, to deliver high quality products
• Contribute technical expertise to enhance the quality of product solution design
• Prepare and maintain specialised code to enable product development, and enhancements to the existing code base
• Support iterative testing processes and continuously gathering feedback to improve the quality and reduce operational risk
• Support resolution of technical risks and issues, and provide product support and problem resolution to minimise the impact of product related service outages
• Contribute to developing guidelines and practices to enable a high performance product development and support the product roadmap

Key Relationships

• Product Manager - Escalate issues, keep informed, advise and receive instructions
• Work Team - Participate in meetings to obtain the work group perspective and share information and work collaboratively to contribute to achieving the team’s business outcomes
• Clients/Customers - Resolve and provide solutions to issues

Reporting Line

This role will directly report to a Product Manager.

Essential requirements

• Currently enrolled in a degree in Computer Science or related field at an Australian University
• Comprehensive understanding of build, configuration management and continuous integration and delivery
• Experience in cloud deployment and management (especially AWS)
• Proven experience in Test Driven Development and strong background in testing, frontend, backend, integration and end to end
• Broad software development experience (SDLC)
• Strong background in Salesforce (Lightening) or Angular JS technologies
• Experience managing projects, product design and / or software development within an Agile / DevOps environment will be an advantage
• Full Stack Development experience will be an advantage

Must be currently studying at an Australian University to be eligible. The scholarship amount is $34,000 tax-free for 12 months full-time.
