Job Description 

Western Power builds, maintains and operates the electricity network in the South West and Metropolitan WA, bringing power to residential and business customers.

The IT Developer intern will work under the guidance and the supervision of the Western Power project delivery area on a variety of initiatives in an Agile SCRUM / KANBAN environment.

  • Code related deliverables in Python, Java or other programming languages
  • Documentation as per project delivery life cycle.


Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication, as well as good interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work openly in a team.
  • Good knowledge of programming languages – Python, Java and database systems
  • 1 + year experience in programming
  • Experience with ITIL change management processes is desirable (Optional)
  • Programming skills in Python, Java and /or Microsoft technologies


Desired Experience/Business Skills

  • Gathering requirements and Technical documentation of any solutions built.
  • Energetic, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work in a structured manner.
  • String problem solving skills
  • Appropriate and timely communications skills.


Qualifications - Australian University Degree

Working towards a recognised qualification in Information Technology / Information Systems/Computer Science.


This Scholarship amounts to $17,000 tax-free for Undergraduate students at 6 months full time.
