Digital Service Transformation Assistant AASQA

$26,400.00 TAX FREE for 12 months at 3 days/week

The Department of Justice is undertaking a Digital Service Transformation Project aimed at improving service delivery, efficiency, and user experience through modern technology platforms and process innovation. The organisation is committed to embedding digital capabilities across its operations and fostering a data-informed, customer-focused culture.


This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to real digital transformation initiatives, working alongside experienced professionals in communications, marketing, project management, and information systems. The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience in digital strategy, change management, and project delivery within a supportive and inclusive workplace.


The Autism Academy for Software Quality Assurance (AASQA) at Curtin University is an Australian social innovation initiative that harnesses the unique talents of people on the autism spectrum through outreach, education, and work-integrated learning. The AASQA internship program, in partnership with industry and the ACS Foundation, provides meaningful pathways from study to employment in technology and business sectors.


Role Purpose

The Digital Service Transformation Assistant will support planning, coordination, and delivery activities within the client’s digital transformation project. This role is ideal for an undergraduate studying in communications, marketing, project management, or information systems who is eager to apply their skills in a dynamic digital environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with Project Planning: Support the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and milestones using tools such as MS Project or Excel.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Help organise meetings, workshops, and communications between internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and update project documentation including meeting minutes, progress reports, risk logs, and issue registers.

  • Support Change Management: Assist in drafting communications, training materials, and user guides to support new ICT service rollouts.

  • Monitor Project Progress: Track deliverables, timelines, and highlight potential risks or delays.

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyse data related to service performance, user feedback, and project KPIs.

  • Support Procurement and Vendor Engagement: Help with procurement documentation, vendor onboarding, and contract tracking.

  • Quality Assurance Support: Participate in testing activities and ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with standards.

  • Assist with Budget Tracking: Monitor project expenditures and maintain financial records under supervision.

  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Identify and share ideas for process and workflow improvements during retrospectives and project reviews.


Skill Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively within a team using preferred modes of communication (e.g., written notes, visual tools, or verbal discussions).

  • Good organisational and time-management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Interest in digital transformation, communications, or project management.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team goals with appropriate support.

  • Attention to detail and a strong willingness to learn.


Desired Experience

  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Trello, Jira).

  • Basic understanding of ICT systems or service delivery environments.

  • Experience in data analysis or reporting (Excel, Power BI desirable).

  • Knowledge of change management principles or stakeholder engagement.

  • Interest in service design, digital communication, or process improvement.


You must be studying toward a qualification related to Marketing / Communication / Project Management / Information Systems or similar through an Australian University or TAFE
