Dear Hiring Manager,

 

I am writing in response to your recently advertised position for the Software Developer internship I found on UNSW’s Careers Online page. I firmly believe I can bring valuable skills and experience to Carrington Associates that will make me an ideal fit for this position. I am a creative, independent and organised professional and I want to apply the skills I have learnt at university to a fast-paced work environment.

 

I am currently enrolled in a BS Computer Science degree, where I have been taught how to collaborate with team members, test and develop software using agile methodologies and adhere to strict coding standards set by course conveners. Moreover, I am interested in gaining experience with mobile app development. Following my application is my resume that details my background and work experience, and how they relate to your position.

 

As you can see, I am proficient in Python, which I used to develop my software scripting and testing skills, from my experience as a Junior Programmer at LexisNexis. Additionally, this role has exposed me to some SQL queries and computing. Furthermore, I have experience in using HTML and CSS (as well as some JavaScript). I have been a Hackathon finalist for two years in a row, using my skills in HTML/CSS and Python/Flask.

 

Finally, I have a distinction mark in a C++ computing course at UNSW. In the course, we learnt about Object Oriented Programming fundamentals, and I am very comfortable working with these paradigms. I understand that C# may be used in your plugin development, and I am more than willing to learn it! I firmly believe that I can be a valuable asset to your team. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about this position and how my experience could help Carrington Associates achieve its goals.
