The Autism Academy for Software Quality Assurance (AASQA) at Curtin University is an Australian social innovation initiative with the vision of harnessing the special talents of people with autism spectrum for the collective benefit of these individuals, the industry and the wider community. The mission of the AASQA is to enable individuals with autism spectrum to leverage their unique talents through outreach, training and education, and graduate programs, so as to create pathways from schools to valued, long-term employment whilst addressing the business needs of the Australian ICT industry facing challenges in attracting and retaining software and quality assurance testers.

Deloitte, the ACS Foundation and AASQA are in partnership to support unique Specialist ACS Foundation WIL scholarships for undergraduates with autism spectrum and related conditions. The working environment will be inclusive by understanding and accommodating individual needs of the intern in terms prior to and during their employment.

Role Responsibilities include:


  • Liaise with key stakeholders and clients to understand complex data issues affecting clients
  • Design analytical solutions in response to critical client data challenges
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend optimal process and system changes to better manage data.


  • Identify data to be collected from systems and other related data sources
  • Assess and determine the techniques and tools to be used in collection, analysis and communication
  • Apply selected analytical techniques and tools to achieve project outcomes, including:
    - Query and mine high performance relational databases to discover transaction patterns, uncover anomalies and filter for targeted information
    - Provide robust data analysis, reporting and data visualisation through a variety of technologies.
    - Contribute to and manage the analysis and interpretation of data insight to relevant communications to explain the value of the work completed; to both clients and other Deloitte team members.

Skills Requirements:

  • Currently undertaking a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Engineering, Mathematics,    Actuarial Science, Physics, IT, Computer Science, Commerce or equivalent field(s)
  • Experience in visual communication of analysis
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient technical skills in SQL as well as coding solutions using other programming languages  (e.g. Python, R, .Net, Perl, VBA)
  • Knowledge in extracting, receiving, transforming, loading, validating and analysing large set of    electronic data (ETL processes)
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in following systems and procedures
  • Good time management and project management skills
  • An awareness of the appropriateness of applying rules-based analytics and data driven analytics
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Structured problem solving skills.
