Isobel Cubong has received the Women of STEM scholarship at the Western Australian Big Day In events on June 10th and June 11th, 2025. This year the Big Day In was held in both Perth and Kwinana. The Women of STEM Scholarship program, supported by industry donors, aims to increase the number and visibility of young women entering the STEM field. Isobel is starting her studies in a Bachelor of Engineering at Charles Darwin University and her scholarship is proudly sponsored by CR Mining.

Isobel moved to Perth from the Philippines when she was six and distinctly remembers facing challenges due to a language barrier. What she couldn't express in words, she could through STEM and her dedication to community service. Isobel quickly realised her actions can be just as powerful as words.
"I was a pro-active student who always sought to expand my knowledge and share it with others. I made it my mission to turn an unfamiliar environment into a place I can comfortably call home", she says.
Today Isobel calls Perth her home but she is still that student who wishes to share her love for STEM with community.
