BiG Day In 2024 Summary

Updated: 6 days ago

BiG Day In 2024 ran in 12 cities with 13 sold out events across the country this year.  The events were attended by more than 5,500 Year 9-12 students & their teachers, which means over 5,000 inspired and interested students are ready to take the IT and STEM industries by storm! The BiG Day In 2024 team travelled to the Sunshine Coast and Sydney in March, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Parramatta, Darwin, Brisbane and Melbourne in May, Adelaide and Perth in June, and the Gold Coast and Canberra in August.

BiG Day In 2024 was hosted on 12 major University Campuses around Australia and brought to life by the many speakers and exhibitors who attended including companies such as Adobe, Gameloft, Google, Microsoft, Australian Signals Directorate, Westpac, Wisetech Global and Woolworths to name just a few. The speakers spoke to students about a wide range of topics including AI, cyber security, gaming and animation and gave students a guide on how they can flourish in the IT industry.

There were many highlights and standout moments this year including running our first ever BiG Day In Perth at Edith Cowan University which was an amazing venue! We also ran our 2nd successful Big Day In Darwin and can’t wait to get back to the NT in 2025.

This year, the ACS Foundation awarded five Women of STEM scholarships to female students entering their first year of University, with three of the 2024 recipients participating in this year’s BiG Day In events either as co-hosts or crew members!

Applications for Women of STEM scholarships for 2025 open on Friday 13 December for current Year 12 students who have a passion for learning about STEM and will be entering their first year of University next year.
